Our Story

I’m Brendan, the creator of Pioneer Woodworking Co. Below you’ll learn a little bit more about myself and why I started this business.

My wife and I bought our first house a few years ago and we found ourselves completely redoing the cosmetics of the house to fit us and our taste and aesthetic. Along the way we found items to decorate our house like wall clocks, floating shelves and a wine rack. However, we didn't love the lack of finishing options offered at big box stores. The quality never met my standards as the son of a family who owns a business finishing wood products. I knew and loved what wood products could be and what I wanted out of them. 

So, we bought a few of these items from the big box stores and I decided to  disassemble them with the intention of recreating certain parts at my family’s workshop to make these pieces really fit us and our new home. We had the ability to select what wood species and finish color which really make these pieces unique and ultimately much higher quality than what we had previously purchased.

After I redid a few pieces for our house, friends and family commented on how nicely these pieces matched our new home.  This made me think – if I like this level of customization, friends and family think they look great – maybe there is an opportunity to provide this level of high quality, unique items to everyone to make their house into their home, an expression of what they love. 

And so, I’ve been on this journey of creating my own business, Pioneer Woodworking Co., which utilizes my family’s business expertise and knowledge in woodworking and wood finishing to provide high quality, customizable pieces to make your house your home.
